If you replied to a Google review recently and cannot find that reply anywhere, you are not imagining it. There is an active bug in Google Business Profile where the replies you leave on reviews are no longer showing up. It is hitting profiles right now, with no official fix announced yet. If your replies have vanished and you want help telling a real problem from a display glitch, reach out to our team at (407) 500-0102. At REK Marketing & Design, we manage Google Business Profiles for local businesses every day, and we have been watching this one closely.
What exactly is happening with your review replies?
The short version is that the replies you write to reviews are disappearing from view. When you open your Google Business Profile and look at a review you already answered, your reply is simply not there. In some cases the reply was still visible on the live public listing, the version your customers actually see, even while it was missing from the dashboard. That was the small comfort. The catch is that those replies on the public listing now appear to be dropping off too, so the response you carefully wrote may not be showing to customers either. We want to be careful with our words here, because Google has not published details and the behavior is not perfectly consistent from one profile to the next. What we can say is that if your replies look gone, you are seeing the same thing a lot of other businesses are seeing. This is a display and sync problem on Google's side, not something you broke in your own account, so there is no setting you need to hunt down and fix.
Is this the same as the recent you have no reviews yet bug?
It might be, but that has not been confirmed. Google recently fixed a separate bug where clicking the Read Reviews button returned a message saying you have no reviews yet, even for profiles with plenty of them. We covered that one when it hit, and you can read our earlier breakdown of the no reviews yet bug for the full picture. This new reply visibility issue could be related to that same underlying problem, or to whatever fix Google rolled out for it. We have not verified a connection, and we are not going to pretend we have. Bugs like these often cluster around the same part of Google's system, so a link would not be surprising, but a hunch is not a fact. For now, treat them as two separate issues that happen to rhyme. Keep an eye out for Google to address this reply problem the way it eventually addressed the last one, and we will note it here if the two turn out to be connected.
What should you do while you wait for a fix?
Keep it simple. Only reply to brand new reviews, and leave your older reviews alone. Here is the reasoning. When Google pushes a fix for a bug like this, nobody outside Google knows exactly how that fix will treat replies that were already there. If you go back and reply again to older reviews, or edit responses that were previously posted, you could end up with duplicates, overwrites, or replies that behave in strange ways once the fix lands. It is not worth the risk. Responding to a fresh review that just came in is normal business as usual, and there is no reason to stop doing that. But resist the urge to bulk edit or answer everything again just because the replies look missing. The replies you already left are very likely still stored on Google's end, even if they are not displaying, and the cleanest outcome is to let Google's fix bring them back rather than stacking new replies on top of old ones. Waiting is annoying, but here it is the safer play, and it protects the work you already did.
How do you keep your profile safe and get help?
If your Google Business Profile is a real source of leads, this is worth watching, and you do not have to watch it alone. Staying on top of review responses is part of how we run Google Business Profile management for the businesses we work with, so we are tracking this bug as it develops and adjusting how we reply in the meantime. Reviews and replies carry real weight in how you show up in local search, which is exactly why a display glitch like this is worth taking seriously rather than shrugging off. If you are not sure whether your replies are actually gone or just hidden, or you would rather have someone monitoring Google's fix so you do not have to, get in touch with our team at (407) 500-0102 and we will look at your profile with you and keep you posted as Google works on a fix.
